From The Editors: As the Arab Studies Journal enters its eighth year of operation, we thank our numerous supporters, whose faith in us has sustained the Journal in times of need and facilitated its growth. An influx of fresh talent in the past year has reinforced our organizational base, and proven once more what a fruitful enterprise a student-run journal can be. We are now taking steps toward becoming a fully refereed journal by way of recruiting an editorial board made up of ASJ contributors and supporters. We hope to have the board in place by 2001.
